Julie is self-taught after receiving a potter's wheel, a bag of clay, and a how-to book for Christmas in 1991. After making a lot of mud she began to make the pots she loves. She makes pots that want to be held. She is inspired by the colors and textures of nature and of her many gardens.
Pots are thrown and decorated using found objects(seeds, bark, shells), stamps, cookie cutters, hardware items, kitchen utensils or anything to make impressions into the soft clay. Lids for jars often incorporate sticks collected along the riverfront property where she lives with her husband and 2 dogs.
Julie's pottery has a distinct look and speaks to her soul.
